"Every thing has three sides, a positive, a negative and a funny one." - Valentinaden builds on this foundation. Although his work has come down to posterity primarily through sound documents, Karl Valentin was also one of Germany's silent film pioneers. In the sketch Mein Filmpech in 1912, he describes himself as the first Munich film producer whose studio was "in a cheese warehouse owned by the merchant Bernbichler on Pfisterstrasse in the rear building directly on the Platzl next to the Hofbräuhaus." After half a year he already describes himself as bankrupt."
